AAO is especially relevant if you, your colleagues or your immediate surroundings is/are affected by
- Domestic Violence
- Armed Robbery
- Mental Health/Drug Induced
- Disgruntle Employees
- Terrorism
As difficult as this may be to detect, some indicators might become apparent.
Domestic Violence
History of aggressive/violent behaviour towards the victim.
The victim makes her employer/workplace aware of the threat.
Workplace becomes aware via other means (eg police, word of mouth).
Armed Robbery
Nervous behaviour. Clothing (eg hoodie, hat, large jacket).
Has previously seen hanging around or close by the location.
Information/intelligence via other means (eg police, word of mouth).
Mental Health/Drug Induced
Aggressive or unpredictable behaviour.
Known to staff.
Talking to oneself.
Disgruntled Employee
Known to staff.
Aggressive behaviour.
Terrorism
Suspicious behaviour.
Appearances (clothing, hats/headwear, logos, haircut, facial hair). Remember we are not isolating or discriminating against any religious or cultural groups however; some Nazi groups, extremists Islamists can have certain appearances. Historically some have presented in their traditional attires when carrying out acts of terror. Although, others have intentionally dressed less obviously in attempt to draw less attention and create less suspicion.
Items carried or placed nearby (eg bags, flags, cases, back packs, bum bags, boxes).
Words spoken (eg hate speeches, religious statements, reciting scripture, chanting, talking to oneself etc).
Note: None of the above indicators are definite signs a violent act is about to occur. They are merely signs to be aware of which collectively may raise suspicion. This will ultimately provide you the analysis and time needed to act appropriately if required.
